How it works
This tool uses your browser's built-in Canvas API to re-encode your image at a lower quality or in a more efficient format. Nothing is sent to a server: the whole process runs locally on your device, which means it works even on a slow connection and your files stay completely private.
Which format should I choose?
JPEG is best for photos where small file size matters more than perfect quality. WebP usually gives the best compression for both photos and graphics and is supported by all modern browsers. PNG is best when you need transparency or lossless quality, at the cost of a larger file.
Tips for smaller files
Combining a maximum width with quality reduction is the most effective approach: a 4000px photo destined for a web page rarely needs to be wider than 1920px, and resizing alone can cut the file size by 80% before any quality loss is applied.
